WE BUILD AND SERVICE WIND FARMS AND ENERGY PROJECTS WHERE THEY’RE HARDEST TO REACH.
Our Management
Meet Rob
Rob started his career in the energy early 2000, and he’s been building wind energy in Canada since before most people knew what a wind turbine was. He installed the country’s first one and has been part of nearly every chapter of the industry since. Education in real estate and other specialty trades rounds out his field experience, and he’s a master of crane applications. That mix of skills gives him a unique position in the industry.
You may have already seen his work. The turbine at the CNE grounds in Toronto went up with Rob and Cooper Cranes. He installed the Pickering wind turbine, then came back with his own company to take it down in 2019.
His projects run right across the country. In Ontario, you’ll find them along the Niagara Escarpment, through southern Ontario, and east along the 401 at Amherst Island and Wolfe Island. Near the Quebec border, he helped with the engineering upgrades that brought the Nation Rise Wind Farm online.
The company got its start on the Gaspé Peninsula, taking on the remote, difficult jobs other crews passed on. That took Rob east to the St. Lawrence Wind Farm and projects in Newfoundland and Labrador, PEI, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and later west to Alberta and BC, from Pincher Creek up to Vermilion and the Grizzly Bear Creek project.
After selling his first company to a global installation firm, Rob consulted for Mammoet, Surespan, Pennecon and GIP. Much of how the industry handles transport, dockage, installation and repowering today comes from work he helped shape.
These days, Rob focuses on the jobs that are hardest to reach: wind-to-battery systems in remote places. This year the company was brought on to help install a 4.2 MW turbine and 4 MW of battery storage in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. The project is led by the Kitikmeot Tugliq Limited Partnership, an Inuit-led partnership between the Kitikmeot Inuit Association and Tugliq Energy, and it will power Agnico Eagle’s - Hope Bay mine.
Meet Kim
Kim runs the business side of the build. A certified construction manager with 10 years managing construction on wind farms, she brings a commercial management background in construction and heavy civil work from several wind farm projects across Canada.
Since 2013, Kim has also run her own consulting firm, Leach and Associates. She has secured millions in grant funding and corporate sponsorship, and built and managed multi-million dollar budgets in government and across energy, emergency management, agriculture and advanced manufacturing.
She has also been a key player in Canada’s renewable energy and clean fuels landscape, including Canada’s Hydrogen Strategy. She has held leadership roles with hydrogen companies and served on boards that shaped Canada’s national hydrogen strategy and the U.S. Hydrogen Hubs initiative. Her North American hydrogen work also ties to U.S. Department of Energy deployments in California, New York, Las Vegas and Washington.
Kim also holds professional certifications in project management and economic development. She’s just as comfortable in a boardroom as on a job site, and you’ll often find her out on the projects herself.
About Us
Wind Turbine Construction Team Inc. installs, maintains and repowers wind turbines across Canada. Over more than 25 years and 50+ projects, we’ve become known for taking on the jobs that are hard to get to: island sites, remote northern communities, and places where the logistics are half the work.
We work for turbine manufacturers, developers and owners, and we bring the same crew-first, safety-first approach to every site, whether it’s a single turbine or a full wind farm.
Our Team
Our crews cover every part of a wind project: transportation, mechanical, rigging, and quality and finishing. Many of our people have worked on wind farms across North America, and they bring that experience to every site, from island installs to remote northern communities. Safety comes first on every job.
